In order to promote equity, social cohesion and active citizenship through education, which are some of the main objectives of the “Strategic Framework for European Cooperation in Education and Training (ET 2020)”, along with the objectives of the EU Strategy on Youth 2010-2018 which encourage active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity of all young people, the ActiveGovEdu Project activities are related to the development of citizenship action lines both in formal education and non-formal, aiming to outline the profile of the issues identified nationally for vulnerable social categories and groups and develop a training module of the valences of civic and social citizens` rights.
The project aims to educate stakeholder groups and the public (Learning module/training in Advocacy), and to motivate public discussion and debate about governance and democracy, which have the potentials to stimulate change for the better (International Conference/Event for Youth: Be an Active Citizen). The project will also offer students and academics from Romania and Iceland the chance to acquire lessons, thorough the Joint Summer School on Public Sector Governance that addresses social sustainability issues, raising the awareness and education on the role of participatory democracy and citizenship.
